Cassadol Equinehigh threat

Changed: Material change. (1) Pricing is now public and aggressive: $79/month per user, undercutting EDSI Starter — and offline mode is disclosed as an optional add-on, which is new leverage for us (their headline offline advantage costs extra; ours is included). (2) Their AI has been productized and named — SmartNote, SmartSummary and SmartSuggest — expanding from a scribe into AI billing intelligence, so the AI gap widened beyond note-drafting into charge capture. (3) They now position openly within the Business Infusions family with HVMS as the enterprise tier and a racing-authority/regulator product line, giving them an upgrade ladder and regulatory adjacency EDSI lacks. (4) They have begun publishing head-to-head comparison content (vs ThoroVet and ezyVet) — expect EDSI to be added to that list, so we should have counter-positioning ready. (5) Idexx/Antech lab integrations and whole-app offline are confirmed still live; Zoetis was not confirmed this round. (6) UNVERIFIED THIS CYCLE — QuickBooks Online, owner payment portal with stored cards, HISA reporting, multi-regional tax and surcharging did not surface in available results before the search quota was hit; these should be re-checked directly on cassadol.vet rather than assumed closed.

• Whole-app offline (records AND invoicing sync on reconnect); EDSI is offline ONLY on Field Entry — billing, statements and reports require a connection
• Native Idexx and Antech lab integrations; EDSI has no lab integrations, CSV export only
• AI clinical scribe / SOAP note generation plus voice dictation (SmartNote, SmartSummary); EDSI's AI is a manual-answering help panel, not documentation
• AI billing intelligence (SmartSuggest) that suggests charges; EDSI has no charge-capture AI
• Lower entry price point ($79/user/mo vs EDSI $149/mo Starter) — easier trial decision for a solo vet
• A credible enterprise upgrade path (HVMS) for practices that outgrow the solo product, plus a racing-authority/regulator product line in the same corporate family — EDSI has no upsell ladder
• Far stronger public review/SEO footprint and named-customer testimonials; EDSI has little third-party validation visible
• Prior-cycle gaps I could NOT re-verify this round (search quota exhausted before I could confirm): QuickBooks Online integration, customer payment portal with stored cards, HISA reporting, multi-regional tax, and credit-card surcharging — treat these as still-open until re-checked, since the corporate family clearly serves racing regulators
HVMShigh threat

Changed: Meaningful changes. (1) NEW: HVMS launched a HISA integration for Thoroughbred racing compliance reporting that removes duplicate entry into the HISA portal — this directly threatens EDSI's racing-commission positioning and is a new gap not on the prior list. (2) NEW: Talkingvet dictation integration for medical records, and an explicit Vetcove multi-supplier purchasing integration, are now front-and-center on their homepage. (3) NEW/expanded: they now market a Business Intelligence dashboard with per-vet revenue mapping and customer geo-mapping, and claim 200+ standard reports — sharpening the analytics gap vs EDSI's 9 reports. (4) CONFIRMED and strengthened: profitability accounting, multi-method vet compensation (gross/collected/profitability with AR-aging penalties), whiteboard and treatment plans, inventory counter program, configurable patient worksheets, and multi-entity/multi-state/multi-country single-database operation all remain prominently marketed. (5) UNVERIFIED this pass: the QuickBooks Online integration claim and GlobalVetLink Coggins generation were not confirmed on current HVMS pages — treat as unconfirmed rather than resolved. (6) NOTE: their offline story is stated as a tablet version usable with no internet, and they publish a mobile app privacy policy, so the whole-app-offline and native-app gaps persist. (7) Pricing remains not public — no change, and still EDSI's clearest differentiator.

• Automated veterinarian compensation calculated on collected/production/profitability with AR-aging penalties — EDSI has financial analytics but no per-vet production or comp attribution
• Profitability (not gross) accounting at the procedure and medication level with detailed partner/associate financial statements
• Inpatient/hospitalization module with treatment whiteboard and treatment plans — EDSI has no hospitalization concept
• Advanced inventory: electronic counting/reconciliation program, costing controls, and direct supplier ordering via Vetcove — EDSI has simpler inventory + DEA logs
• HISA (Horseracing Integrity and Safety Authority) reporting integration — EDSI has racing-commission-friendly administration-date statements but no HISA data push
• Third-party integrations generally (Vetcove, Talkingvet dictation, lab/imaging, GlobalVetLink-type Coggins/health certificates) — EDSI is CSV-export only
• Configurable worksheet builder: any hospital paper form can become an HVMS worksheet that auto-generates records, invoices and inventory transactions — EDSI has 6 fixed medical-record types
• Multi-entity/multi-location/multi-state/multi-country consolidation from one database with per-unit pricing and commission rules
• 200+ canned reports and a BI dashboard with geo-mapping/marketing analytics vs EDSI's 9 reports
• Whole-app offline tablet use in the field — EDSI offline is limited to the Field Entry screen
• Native mobile apps (HVMS publishes a mobile app privacy policy) — EDSI is PWA only
• Voice dictation for medical records
Impromed Equinemedium threat

Changed: Material change in posture, not in feature set. The prior gap list still holds directionally — telemedicine, breeding/feed/ID records, multi-location inventory, lab/imaging ecosystem, mobile app, and Covetrus brand all remain real. What's new is credible evidence the product is aging and de-prioritized: it is described as not cloud-native, installing on a Windows server at the practice, a poor fit for practices wanting cloud access, remote work, mobile-native workflows, AI documentation, or a modern UI, and practices are being told to weigh staying versus migrating to Covetrus Pulse or a third-party cloud PIMS. Reviewers reinforce this with complaints about an archaic, hard-to-train interface and unattractive client-facing invoices and records and at least one equine practice switching off it to get cloud technology. Pricing remains unpublished. No new CUBEX, Rapport, or ImproView announcements surfaced in current search — the marketing page is generic and unchanged in substance. Net: threat is steady-to-slightly-reduced on product, unchanged on brand; the sharpest EDSI attack line has shifted from 'we're cheaper' to 'they're on-prem Windows and being sunset toward Pulse — you'd migrate twice.'

• Lab and imaging integrations — results flow into the record via the Covetrus lab/imaging ecosystem; EDSI has none, CSV export only
• Built-in telemedicine/video visits with recorded consultations and calendar-launched meetings; EDSI has none
• Breeding management with pedigree/ID tracking, feed management, and expense/competition records — barn-management breadth EDSI does not attempt
• Multi-location inventory with transfers between storage locations and suggested mark-ups; EDSI inventory is single-practice with DEA logs
• Automated controlled-substance cabinet integration (CUBEX-class hardware) tied to inventory; EDSI integrates with no cabinet hardware
• Client communication/reminder engine (Rapport-class) for appointment and health reminders; EDSI's outbound is SendGrid statements plus SMS payment reminders only
• A marketed native mobile app with app-store presence; EDSI is a PWA
• Covetrus brand credibility, pharmacy/distribution bundling, and enterprise sales coverage in front of partner audiences
• Whole-app offline mobile mode, not just one screen — mobile versions for offline access that sync on return to the office
• Multi-language support (English, French, Italian, Spanish, German) per directory listings; EDSI is English-only
Shepherdmedium threat

Changed: Largely consistent with the prior assessment, with three notable shifts: (1) Shepherd's clinical AI is now marketed as a unified in-SOAP 'ShepherdAI' assistant covering differentials, dosing, drug interactions and treatment guidance rather than separate branded tools; (2) parent Synergy Pet Group acquired mobile-vet scheduling startup Kumba in 2025, signaling a direct push toward mobile/ambulatory practice — the segment EDSI owns; (3) new negative signals emerged — multiple multi-hour outages reported in February 2026, click-heavy prescription entry, and an equine reviewer noting mobile equine workflows and offline calendar access are underserved. Pricing is now widely published around $299/mo first vet plus ~$99/mo per additional vet, making EDSI's flat no-per-vet pricing a sharper contrast.

• Real client/owner portal (requests, records, communication) — EDSI offers only secure pay-links
• Bidirectional lab integrations (IDEXX and peers) and imaging/PACS — EDSI is CSV export only
• Clinical AI embedded in the record (differentials, dosing, drug interactions, treatment plans) — EDSI's AI is a manual help panel
• Digital whiteboard for hospital patient-status tracking
• Multi-tax / ZIP-code-based tax handling — EDSI has a single flat rate
• Client-financing (e.g., CareCredit-style) options within the payment stack
• Free/no-cost data migration as a standard switching incentive
• Broader reminder and communication partner network
StableTrackhigh threat

Changed: Escalated. All six prior gaps remain, and StableTrack has hardened its position: it is now clearly positioned as an Asteris product leaning on 20+ years of imaging infrastructure, with a public $199/mo price point that undercuts EDSI's Professional and Practice tiers, a beta launched around AAEP 2025, and a heavy SEO/content push targeting 'best equine PMS' searches into 2026. New capabilities visible since last review: an AI assistant that acts across the whole app (booking appointments, creating invoices, adding horses by voice or text) rather than just scribing, batch barn services for bulk vaccination rounds, shared-equipment double-booking prevention, multi-location practice-wide reporting, clinic-and-truck unified inventory with labels/dispensing, and insurance claim handling in billing. Inpatient treatment sheets were not re-confirmed on the current site but their hospital-side positioning has strengthened.

• Native iOS app in the App Store — EDSI is a PWA only
• Whole-app offline field use with automatic sync — EDSI offline is limited to the single Field Entry screen; billing, statements and reports require a connection
• Equine-trained AI scribe converting voice dictation into structured SOAP notes, plus an AI assistant that can book appointments and create invoices — EDSI's AI only answers from the manual and escalates, doing no clinical documentation
• Native PACS/DICOM imaging integration (Keystone) — EDSI has zero imaging capability
• Batch/bulk barn services: apply services to many horses at a barn at once for vaccination rounds — EDSI has no bulk barn-service application
• Shared-equipment scheduling with conflict prevention (e.g., one ultrasound unit cannot be double-booked) — not in EDSI's scheduling module
• Multi-location, practice-wide provider dashboards and clinical-metric reporting — EDSI's analytics are single-practice, 9 fixed reports
• Insurance claim handling referenced in their billing workflow — EDSI has no claims support
• Backing of an established imaging vendor with an existing equine customer base and channel — EDSI is an independent product
• QuickBooks Online sync claimed in prior review of their integration set — EDSI still offers CSV export only
ThoroVethigh threat
• Whole ambulatory workflow offline (exams + histories + invoicing + payment) vs EDSI's single offline Field Entry screen — billing/statements/reports still require a connection for EDSI
• Native QuickBooks Online accounting sync; EDSI offers CSV export only
• GlobalVetLink integration for Coggins/EIA and interstate CVIs; EDSI has zero lab or health-certificate integrations
• Native iPad app presence and iPad-first design; EDSI is PWA-only
• Shipped equine clinical templates (lameness grading, pre-purchase exam, ReproCycle/breeding, feed management) that EDSI does not advertise
• Market maturity and social proof — years of equine customers, testimonials, active marketing; EDSI has one paying reference customer plus a demo practice
• Lower entry price point than EDSI's $149/mo Starter
• Formal paid onboarding/training and data-conversion packages from legacy systems
